Background:
Jeanne Century directs several research and evaluation efforts funded by the National Science Foundation. Before coming to the University of Chicago in 2005, she worked at the Education Development Center (EDC) in Newton, Mass., for 20 years. Her experience includes writing inquiry-based curricula, which emphasizes teaching science as a process of discovery rather than as a static collection of facts, providing professional development for teachers and principals, and strategic planning consultation to school and district leaders. Century has directed a range of research and evaluation efforts focused on the impact of inquiry-based science instruction, measuring fidelity of program implementation, strategies for improving the use of evaluation, and sustainability of reform efforts.
