Martha Roth, the Dean of the Division of the Humanities at the University, is one of the world's leading experts on the ancient languages of Mesopotamia.
Roth, the Chauncey S. Boucher Distinguished Service Professor of Assyriology in the Oriental Institute, Near Eastern Languages & Civilizations and the College, serves as the Editor-in-Charge of the Chicago Assyrian Dictionary.
Prof. Roth researches and publishes on the legal and social history of the ancient Near East. Currently, she is working on a project on Mesopotamian law cases. She is editor-in-charge of the Oriental Institute's Chicago Assyrian Dictionary Project, which oversees compilation of the twenty-six volume CAD.
