Background:

Mark Oreglia is heavily involved in planning for the International Linear Collider, a proposed subatomic particle collider designed to solve some of the deepest mysteries of the universe. Meanwhile, he will be among an international group of scientists searching for the Higgs boson when the Large Hadron Collider at CERN, the European particle physics laboratory, begins operation in 2008. The long-sought Higgs boson, scientists believe, is the particle that gives mass to all matter in the universe, including atoms, stars and humans. The author or co-author of more than 500 publications, Oreglia had previously contributed to a major experiment of the former Large Electron-Positron Accelerator at CERN.
