David Jablonski is a paleontologist who studies macroevolution, which takes place above the species level and encompasses large-scale patterns of evolution, mass extinction, diversification and the origin of evolutionary breakthroughs. Jablonski is co-editor of three books, Evolutionary Paleobiology, Patterns and Processes in the History of Life, and The Encyclopedia of Paleontology. He is an honorary research fellow of the Natural History Museum in London and a research associate of the Field Museum in Chicago. Among other honors, Jablonski has received the Paleontological Society's Charles Schuchert Award, and he is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.
