Background:
Professor Harper is the author of Early Chinese Medical Literature, a collection of translations of ancient manuscripts. His research and teaching interests lie primarily in early Chinese civilization, focusing on philosophy, religion, and history of science. He is currently working on a book-length study of early Chinese religion based primarily on recently excavated manuscripts dating to the Warring States, Qin, and Han periods.
