Background:
Mark Payne is the author of several articles on Greek poets from the archaic to the Hellenistic periods, and his teaching focuses on Greek poetry and literary theory. His poetry has been published in several anthologies. He is the book review editor for Classical Philology and a member of the University's Poetry and Poetics program. He is currently working on preparing a dissertation on Theocritus for publication, tentatively entitled Theocritus and the Invention of Fiction.
